I was put on this earth to teach people. Turns out I am also meant to lift really heavy things. I'm extremely lucky to be able to combine my love for strength training, with my love of coaching and create a career out of it. 

When I found powerlifting it changed my life. Remember, I started where you did, at the beginning. I have acquired a lot of knowledge over the years and take great joy in teaching you what I have learnt. I focus on good form first and building up slowly. If you keep improving, avoid injury and work hard, chances are that one day you might just turn around and be the strongest motherfreaker in the room!

I have always believed in the importance of exercise for all ages - for the young and the young at heart. In line with this philosophy, and proving that age need not be a barrier, I am currently an internationally competitive powerlifter. I am also the National Masters 2 powerlifting champion in my weight class and formerly held the Masters 2 National squat record. 

I have enjoyed coaching for the last couple of years at both Build Fitness and at my own business, StraightUp Strength and Fitness. I love the improvements our clients make and the satisfaction they get from them. 

I have been active in several different sports over the years including volleyball, crossfit, and soccer. I am also a 1st Dan Black Belt (and probationary 2nd Dan) in Zen Do Kai and a black singlet in Muay Thai. Through my martial arts I have taught Women's Self Defense courses and love the confidence and empowerment the students gain.

After competing in bodybuilding in 2015, I decided to try my hand at powerlifting and instantly fell in love with how it made me feel, how much it gave me back mentally, and the supportive environment it provided. 

For the past couple of years I have dedicated my time to this sport by competing and trying to gain as much knowledge as possible. Naturally, it has led me into finding a love for coaching others so that they too, could use strength training as a catalyst for self-development both in and out of the gym. After working with some of the best coaches in the world, I have developed my own way to program and support my athletes to provide the best service possible.

I believe wholeheartedly in long-term health at the end of the day, whether that is competing at a meet or simply getting stronger and working on your overall fitness - I aim to provide the tools and realistic perspective to get there, and more importantly, how to maintain it once you do.

I am a strong believer that a coach's role is to not only show an athlete how to do something, but to help the athlete understand why we do things in a certain way. This allows them to reach their full potential independently and no longer rely solely on their coach to help them every step of the way. I also stand by that the most efficient and safe way to become stronger is by following a scientifically backed approach to training, and also building a strong coach/client relationship.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of clients ranging from rehabilitation, to preparing powerlifters and athletes for competition. By applying my knowledge and experience from human physiology and mechanics, I am able to make informed decisions for all my clients and stick to my personal training approach of long term progressive strength with sound technique and movement.
